Why is it whenever there is a kids’ show where the characters suddenly become superheroes, the characters they create are lame?
I guess the creators are trying to go for recognizable tropes, rather than create something new. Which is funny, since the best comic book creators are trying to create something new. It just goes to show that we haven’t really come that far toward acceptance.
In an Entertainment Weekly, a writer called movies like “Kick Ass” a sign that that the super hero movie genre has come to an end: If people are trying to reinvent or spin it, it must be dead. The writer didn’t realize that there are thousands of different types of stories in comics. Origin stories, however, tend to be pretty rote.
