where’s the fun in summer movies?

Posted: June 21, 2010 in All, Movies

A lot of big summer movies are hitting the screen. Full of explosions and drama. And that’s the problem. They’re not fun.

Popcorn movies need to be fun.

My example is “Independence Day.” Loads of fun. Who cares about anything else? It left you feeling good. I don’t think you feel good leaving “Clash of the Titans,” “Avatar,” or any other big movie. Where’s the fun? Why does everything have to be a downer?

Earth was on the line in “Independence Day.” It doesn’t get much worse than that. But I enjoyed watching it. It wasn’t weighed down with drama and scowling heroes.
